The Singapore Prize 2018 Has Been Announced

The Singapore Prize is a monetary award given for a particular area of endeavour. It is awarded to individuals or groups, and it can be won in the fields of science and technology, arts and letters, sports, business, and public service. The prize is accompanied by a medal and a certificate.

The 2018 edition of the prize has been announced with a focus on tackling climate change and accelerating solutions to repair our planet. The prize will see global leaders, businesses and investors gather in Singapore in November for the inaugural Earthshot Week to accelerate their solutions and bring about tangible action to address our shared challenges.

This year, the competition is tipped to be even more competitive as it will feature a new category, which seeks to recognise innovative ideas that use machine learning. The organisers are looking to reward and inspire more researchers to work on this new category.

In the past, the prizes have been dominated by organisations from the United States, with Google being the top winner. But in recent years, there has been a rise of smaller companies from around the world winning the award. This year, it is being contested by over 200 entries from more than 50 countries.

Winners will receive up to $1 million in funding for their ideas, which can be in the form of cash or investment capital, as well as technical and other support. In addition to the main prize, there are four runner-ups who will each get up to $50,000. The winners will also be able to secure up to $550,000 in grants from the Singapore Economic Development Board.

The finalists were selected by a jury consisting of members from the public, academic institutions, government agencies and the private sector. They were chosen based on their ability to make a significant contribution towards the sustainability of Singapore’s tourism industry and are considered to have made good use of social media and other digital channels to promote their nominations.

A total of seven projects have been shortlisted for this year’s Singapore Tourism Innovation Prize. This year, the judges have put together a diverse mix of projects which are focused on developing sustainable tourism products and services for a range of audiences.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 29 August at the Mediacorp Theatre, Singapore. Hosted by Emmy and three-time Oscar nominee Hannah Waddingham, and featuring performances from Cate Blanchett, Lana Condor and OneRepublic, the event will also be broadcast worldwide on Netflix.
